Shad Fishing Tournament
Official Rules and Regulations
- Registration: To be eligible for the tournament prizes you must register
by mailing the attached form to SHAD TOURNAMENT, P.O. Box 907, Easton, PA
18044-0907. Registration must be received, by mail or in person, at registration
locations no later than Thursday April 22, 2004.
All registrants will be accepted at the discretion of the committee. Checks
with insufficient funds will be charged $20 over and above bank charges.
- Eligibility: To enter, a contestant must be 16 years of age
and have a current PA or NJ fishing license. Participants must show
their license to a tournament official at weigh-in and to pick up hat and
pin.
- Weigh-in Station: The official weigh-in station is located in Scott
Park, Larry Holmes Drive, Easton, PA. The station will be open for registration
and weigh-in daily from 9am to 9pm, during tournament dates.
- Weigh-in of Shad: To be eligible shad must be 22" or longer.
Tournament standings will be determined by the weight of the shad entered
by a contestant consistent with the Pennsylvania Fish Commission record-keeping
policies. All contestants must have their fish weighed on the official scale
at the weigh-in station. Fish which are entered will have a fin cropped by
tournament officials for identification. All entries will be gutted
by weigh master at weigh station at Scott Park. Any tampered fish will be
disqualified and registrant entering said fish will be disqualified indefinitely.
Anyone cheating in any manner will be disqualified from participation indefinitely.
All decisions of the tournament officials will be final!
- Permitted Fishing Locations: Water of Delaware River.
- Tackle and Lures: No snagged, netted, gigged or foul hooked or otherwise
illegally taken fish may be entered. All shad must be caught live in a sporting
manner using rod and reel and must be entered on the day it is caught before
the weigh-in station closes.
- All fish entered for prize money must be entered by contestant who caught
the fish. All fish entered for the daily prize money become the property
of the Tournament.
- Safety: Safe boating and wading conduct must be observed. Boats must
be in compliance with PA or NJ State boating regulations with adequate
personal flotation devices on board.
- Winners:
- Winners will be determined by weight and will be posted daily.
- Grand Prize winners will be announced Sunday May 2, 2004 at the "Cook
Out" in Scott Park - Checks will be awarded at 2 pm during the Closing
Ceremonies.
- All ties will be broken by measuring the lengths of the fish with mouths
closed and without any external pressure. Additional ties will be determined
by the day and time the fish is registered.
No registrant may win more than ONE daily first
prize, ONE daily second prize, ONE daily third prize and ONE OVERALL
PRIZE for the duration of the Tournament. |
- Caution: The Delaware River and nearby waterways can be dangerous
for boating and wading. Participation in the tournament is entirely at the
risk of the contestant. We urge you to use caution and be aware that all of
these waterways can be hazardous in time of high water. Please obey all PA
and NJ boating regulations.
Winners checks must be cashed within 30 days of the Closing Ceremonies.
Any winner not able to attend the Closing Ceremonies are asked to contact Tournament
headquarters at 610-597-SHAD by Sunday May 2, 2004 to arrange delivery of check.
ALL DECISIONS OF THE TOURNAMENT OFFICIALS WILL BE FINAL!!

Rotary Club of Easton.

members during the tournament. Be patient during tournament if you don't get
