Wolf by the Ears, by Ann Rinaldi

Reviewed by Hana Chang, 13, Pennington, NJ

Wolf by the Ears is a novel by Ann Rinaldi, an author of many other colonial-based books that talks about the very interesting Thomas Jefferson and his so-called mistress, Sally Hemmings. Sally is a slave owned by Thomas Jefferson, and the novel is told by her daughter's point of view, Harriet Hemmings. Wolf by the Ears is a very controversial book- with many people disagreeing on what had happened between the president and his slave, but this book shows you what might have happened.

I think that this is a wonderful book for anyone who likes to read about colonial times or about Thomas Jefferson in a very interesting way that is written from a slave's point-of-view.
