Summer of the Monkeys
by Wilson Rawls

Reviewed by Grace - Submitted January 25, 2005

Jay Berry Lee knew there were all kinds of wild things down in the bottoms near his home in the Ozarks, but who would believe that he had seen a tree full of monkeys? When a circus train wrecks and about 30 monkeys escape, the circus people offer a reward for their safe return. And with the kind of money they are offering, Jay Berry will finally be able to get a pony and a .22! But the monkeys are not as easy to catch as he thinks, and not to mention how smart they are. During that "summer of the monkeys" Jay Berry learns a lot about patience and giving, and really getting what you wish for.
