Hoops is a terrific story about an ex pro basketball star who coaches a group of African American basketball players. This book describes how tough it is to get into college when you live in Harlem and how life is there. The star basketball player, Lonnie, is one of the main characters. Myers describes Lonnie's everyday problems from his family to basketball. If you like basketball then read this book. It teaches you about the winning edge you have to have to win, and the struggle it is to become an NBA player.
