The Solitary, by Lynn Hall Collier Books, 1986. 121pp In this story, Jane Cahill hasn't been home since the tragedy... when her mother was convicted of murder. The house has been abandoned for years and Jane has decided to go back, alone. She wants to build a life for herself, by herself. First she has to fix up the house, then get a job. The Solitary is extroidinary; it is an impressive and dignified story, terrifically written. It is one of the best books I have ever read. Hall has captured my heart and mind, and I can feel what Jane is going through. Read this one!!! You wouldn't be wasting your time.
