The Lottery Win
A True Event

Carly Palmer, 13

When I went out with my grandma
On the very last day of June.
I had absolutely no idea
That I would be rich soon.

We started by tracing our family roots
And then we went to lunch.
I paid for our yummy food
And then she had a hunch.

“I’ll buy a Lotto ticket for us both”
Nanny said to me
She didn’t give me any choice,
I had no choice but to agree.

So we went to the Lotto Shop
She bought two Lotto tickets
She fanned them out in front of me
I took one, thinking of the trinkets

That I would by when I won hundreds,
I looked forward to Saturday.
I dreamed of things that I could buy,
I hoped the card would pay.

Saturday dawned bright and fresh,
At eight I was tuned in.
To channel two with prayers above,
I hoped that I would win.

The numbers fell out of the spinner,
I eagerly checked my card.
I jumped up in joyful glee,
I yelled out large and loud.

I was allowed to be full of glee
For I had won division three!
$676 I did win
All thanks can go to my next of kin.

I treated myself to a nicety
The rest went in the bank.
So now I’m rich - Miss Moneybags -
I’ve joined the money rank.
